White pine oil is obtained by distilling the tree's needles and retains the rich, fresh scent of a coniferous forest. It is a concentrated natural product that is traditionally used in aromatherapy and in homemade cosmetic blends.

What it contains

The aroma and character of the oil are shaped mainly by pinene and camphene, natural monoterpenes typical of coniferous plants. Alongside them the composition includes limonene, borneol, cineole and terpineol, which complete the oil's fresh, resinous profile.

How to use

For aromatherapy, add a few drops to water in an aroma lamp or diffuser. For external application the oil is always diluted in a carrier oil: about 1–1.5% for the face (3–4 drops per 10 ml carrier) and 2–3% for the body or hair (6–9 drops per 10 ml base). It can also be used to scent a cloth when storing textiles (7–8 drops on a damp cloth).
