Balcho flaxseed oil is cold pressed from high grade flaxseed under special conditions, in a darkened room at low temperature, to keep its composition intact.
Flax has been grown as a crop since ancient Europe, and the oil pressed from its seed is prized today mainly for its exceptionally high omega 3 content. It also carries plant compounds called lignans.
Taste and characteristics
It has a distinct, slightly grassy taste and a deep yellow brown colour. Its essential fatty acid profile is omega 3 at 63 g, omega 6 at 14 g and omega 9 at 12 g per 100 g of product.
How to use it
It suits salad dressings and seasoning cheeses. Never heat the oil, add it right before serving warm dishes instead.
Storage
Keep in a dark, cool place, tightly closed, to prevent oxidation.
